I wanted to fall in love with Arcade Odyssey, but I'm not sure it merits a second date. But there wasn't any signage or anything. There are several desktop computers available (not sure why) and an area that appears to be set up for console games. Did I really need to hear that blaring while I'm playing games? There was also someone narrating something over a very loud speaker, but I have no idea where the man with the microphone was, or what the hell he was describing. There's an air hockey table, but it has a lot of dead spots where the puck doesn't float. How do you play it? We're still not sure. They even have a weird game where you have to punch these red paddles that flip out at your face. I did enjoy tapping away on the cool X-Men game (although my brother frequently had to insert two tokens instead of the required one when using Nightcrawler). There are just a handful of classic games, and a ton of weird Japanese imports - some with nary an English word anywhere on them. They are the last guardians of a dying age.īut Arcade Odyssey isn't all that special. On principle, I'm inclined to love any arcade. I wish there were more arcades like this, especially where I currently live because it would be a blast to work there and enjoy an atmosphere of people coming together to enjoy old- and new school games. It wouldn't do enough justice to how amazing this place is. I don't know what else to say that can't really be put into words. Immediately it's a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with the staff members helpful and completely awesome individuals. ![]() I also have a shirt from there that I love wearing.Įssentially it is the home away from home. If I had a million dollars I would have easily spent it all there playing as much as possible, as long as possible while also enjoying the Japanese treats and drinks that are difficult to find. The classics from pinball to shooter games from DDR and Pump it up (which is my favorite whenever I get a chance to go there) to air hockey. The glow in the dark carpet is sick and I want them in my room! The games are a fantastic combination of old and new in catering to everyone's tastes in gaming genres. If you ever come to South Florida, you MUST pay this place a visit during your stay.To put it simply it is the best place to be. Also for people who want Japanese arcades and snacks, this place has it too. Also this place is VERY affordable to anyone. They change arcade units frequently to try and spice things up and make sure the place isn't too much of the same all the time. They have monitors for every current gen console and 3D chairs that vibrate. They even host tournaments and cosplay nights regularly. Whether you want fighting, beat 'em up, puzzle, shooter, light gun, retro, racing, etc you will have something for you. The owner really cares about his craft unlike with most arcades out there(not many out there these days). Has a lot of rare arcade machines as well. Kid friendly too for parents since it's smoke free. This place is amazing! Has retro arcades, new arcades, current generation consoles, it has it all! The staff is friendly and the machines are well kept and maintained. Whether you want PC games, old arcade games, DDR, pinball or air hockey - come by Arcade Odyssey - you will NOT be disappointed. Their pinball selection is wonderful as well, and while I am no pinball expert, I was impressed by the variety of machines, all of which were functioning perfectly. The snacks are all over the place, and as you would expect there is no shortage of Japanese candy or caffeinated beverages. The prices are very very fair, and they had some MOBA games going on in the back. This place is special, especially if you want to have a really fun evening while strolling (or sprinting) down memory lane. I see someone that looks as if they are having a complete meltdown over there! Oh no, false alarm, it's just Fighting Mania!! Is that Time Crisis? X-Men? The Simpsons? Are those amazing pinball machines really here? Wait. ![]() Nostalgia hits you square between the eyes, and you stumble a second, trying to take it all in. I had one of the best time I have had in a long time.Īs you walk in, you hear something, then you see it, it is a giant fist coming at your face. Do you want to feel like a Time Lord? Well, swing by Arcade Odyssey and time travel to your heart's content!Ī friend and I came here on a whim, one of those nights where I just say "let's go out!", without any extra plans. ![]()
